    金原徹; 安江健; 足立吉數; 松澤安夫, Corresponding, In order to examine the validity to the grazing goat of the fermented rice bran (FRB), the occurrence of diarrhea (days/goat) was compared between before (2003-2004) and during (2005-2007) FRB feeding period from the daily record over five years of a Saanen goats group (3-10 goats/year) in year-round grazing system on abandoned -cultivated field. Additionally, the rectal feces of a FRB feeding goat (G+FRB), a FRB non-feeding goat in this grazing gourp (G) and a FRB non-feeding goat kept under housing condition (H) (all goats were adult female) were collected at June, August and October of 2007, and the colony forming unit per gram (cfu/g) and the species of fecal bacteria was compared among these three goats. The colony forming unit per gram was counted after cultivation by BL agar, the eight colonies of bacterial species were collected at random from each agar which carried out limiting dilution (10^<-6>), and the bacterial species were identified by the homology between the base alignment of 16S rDNA of standard strain and our isolates. The occurrence of diarrhea per animal during FRB feeding period (2006: 0.06, 2007: 0.08 d/goat) were less than that of before period (2003: 0.75, 2004: 0.53)(P<0.05). The colony forming unit per gram (cfu/g) in rectal feces was 10-100 times in G+FRB goat (10^7 cfu/g) compared with that in G or H goats (10^5-10^6 cfu/g)(P<0.05). In the feces of G+FRB goat, Lactobacillus acidipiscis and Pediococcus pentosaceus of the FRB origin were isolated, and the isolated rate of pathogenic Staphyloccus spp. or Escherichia coli was lower than G or H goat. From these results, a potential that FRB had an intestinal tract function in a grazing goat was suggested., Japanese Soceity of Livestock Management

  • 発酵米ぬかの化学的品質とヤギによる嗜好性の継時的変化.
    安江健; 金原徹; 中村豊; 松澤安夫, Lead, In order to evaluate the year-round potential as the feed of rice bran (RB) which can be freely obtained in rural area of Japan, the chemical quality and goats' palarability of fermented rice bran (FRB) aded with bamboo humus and water were examined temporally. FRB was sampled at nine times during storage period (10 days), and the chemical quality was evaluated by the Fliegs' method and the V-score method which are chemical quality evaluation methods in silage. In addition, the cafeteria test with RB estimated the palatability of RRB in eight times during storage period, employing the 4 Saanen adult female-goats without eating experience of RB or fermented feed. Although the V-score of FRB slightly decreased from 100 (0 day of storage) to 94.4 (99^ day of storage), the Fliegs' score always maintained 100 except for 0 day of storage, and the highest quality was maintained during whole storage period. The goats' palatability of FRB was affected by their eating experience rather than the quality. Compared with RB, the eating latency of FRB was longer (P<0.05) till the 5th day of the test, and the intake of FRB was fewer (P<0.05) till the 6th day of the test. However, these significant differences among two feeds were lost after these days of the test. It was suggested that the FRB added with bamboo humus and water can maintain the good quality for a long period of time, and its feeding for about one week can also improve the palatability of FRB of the same extent of RB by goat which is inexperienced in eating of FRB., Japanese Soceity of Livestock Management

  • 耕作放棄地放牧での子ヤギの短時間隔離が母子の行動と搾乳量に及ぼす影響.
    安江健; 松原桃子; 武田典子, Lead, It is considered that extensive milking by grazing-dairy goats is effective for utilizing the abandoned cultivated land in the urban area, since the practitioner is a non-farmer citizen. In order to evaluate the extensive milking methods under grazing condition on abandoned cultivated land in Japan, the behaviour and milk yield were analyzed when 4 dyad of Saanen does and their kids were briefly separated according to their suckling behaviour under natural condition. In the "normal day" when kids could suck their does' udder freely and the "separation day" when kids are separated from their does during 2-6 h according to their age, total 18 times of 11-hours continuous observations were conducted during 0.8-6.2 month old of kids. Additionally, milk yield was measured immediately after the observation in separation day. The milk yields in separation day were relatively stable (180-350mL/doe) through experiment because separation time was extended from 2 h to 6 h according to kids' age. However, more than 4 h separation concentrated the does' grazing-site on the surrounding area of kids' isolated shelter. From the results of vocalization rate, the rate of attempt to escape from isolated shelter and the concentration of salivary cortisol, it was suggested that kids' stress was induced by short-term maternal separation in spite of the resemblance between the duration and that one of maximum suckling interval under natural condition. It was concluded that the extensive milking methods with short-term maternal separation was not recommended in grazing goats on abandoned cultivated land., Zootechnical Science Society of Japan

  • ハシブトガラス(Corvus macrorhynchos)による異なる顔写真からの同一人物の識別とその記憶保持期間.
    安江健; 佐久間栄一; 松澤安夫, Lead, In order to investigate the ability of identification and the memory retention period for the human in jungle crows (Corvus macrorhynchos), wild-caught jungle crows (n=19) were tested to discriminate a correct human face from 4 facial photographs in the discrimination test consisted by some sessions of 20 trials. In experiment 1 which investigated the identification ability, the crows were tested to choose a correct man from the 4 facial photographs in 6 tasks which differ among the facial direction (i.e., front, 45°right, 90°right) and the wearing some accessories (i.e., hat, sunglass and mask). In the next experiment 2 which investigated the memory retention period for the human face, the 16 of 19 crows were assigned into three non-experimental periods (1, 3, 6 months) and were tested to choose a correct man from the 4 facial photographs as experiment 1 after each non-experimental period. In both experiments, when the population percentage of crows which chose the correct man in the first trial was significantly higher than the probability of the chance (25%) by binomial test, it was defined that crows could identify the correct mans' face. From the results of experiment 1, the crow could identify the correct mans' face from the 4 front face, and could also identify the correct face from the 4 front face worn the hat and sunglass. However, crow became impossible to identify the correct man when the facial direction changed or the face wore the hat, sunglass and mask at the same time. From the results of experiment 2, it was suggested that crow could remember the correct mans' face for 6 months., Japanese Soceity of Livestock Management

Furthermore, in case of amplified D-loop regions digested with Hinf I, two fragments were confirmed in case of Ryukyu wild boars but one fragment were confirmed in case of the other wild boars and pigs. In conclusions, Ryukyu wild boars were genetically different from other wild boars, Inobuta and pigs.   • 奥羽山系放牧共用林野における可食部現存量および栄養価の分布
    杉山みどり; 佐藤衆介; 安江健; 出口善隆; 菅原和夫, Dry matter (DM) and nutrients of edible plant groups were monitored monthly during the grazing season in the national agro-forest consisting of many lots of about 10 ha with various aged Japanese cedars planted and these surrounding broadleaf trees. Plant groups were bamboo, sedges, butterbur, tree leaves, forbs, and vines. Compositions of plant groups were quite different among lots. Average DM was 133 g/m^3 in this forest. There was always enough DM of about 28 times of the DM requirement during the whole grazing period for all grazing cows in the estimated home range. Average crude protein content and crude fiber content were 11.9 and 19.2% in this forest, respectively, which are enough for rearing the beef cow. Although the seasonal change of nutrients was different among lots, it is thought that cows could get balanced nutrition by selective grazing in this forest. Many lots, however, were poor in nutritional condition in October, which suggests affecting on the behaviour of cows., Japanese Society of Grassland Science

  • 同種個体の動画、静止画およびついばみ音の提示が鶏の採食行動に及ぼす影響
    Bao Yuexian; 松澤安夫; 安江健, In this study we observed the influences of video images and slides of feeding or standing conspecifics and pecking sounds as social stimuli on feeding behavior of 16 adult hens. Each stimulus was presented individually in the way of "continuous presentation" or "connective presentation" . In the continuous presentation six different visual and auditory stimuli were used : moving and static life-size images of both of feeding and standing hens, pecking sounds and a blank illumination (control), with each bird exposed to each of six stimuli for 5 minutes. Both amount of food consumed and number of food pecks were significantly greater when exposed to the moving image of feeding hen than when exposed to others. Following the moving feeding hen's image, static feeding hen's image induced significantly greater food consumption and food pecks than three other stimuli. There was no significant difference between static feeding hen's image and pecking sounds in these two measurements. In the connective presentation experiment, four kinds of stimuli that took turns successively at 15-second shifts with five repetitions during 5 minutes were connected in the same order but different starting point, and consequently four types of presentations were made up in both the moving image - peck sound series and static image-peck sound series. What kind of stimulus appeared first strongly affected food consumption over whole 5 minute period in both series. But time series analysis revealed that change patterns of number of food pecks fluctuated showing the same effects of each stimulus as those found in the continuous presentation experiment and were significantly regular regardless of what kind of stimulus appeared first. It was concluded that feeding behavior of hen could be most strongly accelerated by the visual stimuli of actions of feeding conspecifics and static feeding hen's image might also have a comparable effect to food pecking sounds, and hens could change their feeding behavior at short intervals in keen response to changes of stimuli., Japanese Soceity of Livestock Management

  • The characteristics of tree-shade used by grazing cattle in a hilly pasture during summer season
    YASUE Takeshi; MATSUI Akira; KONDO Seiji; OKUBO Masahiko; ASAHIDA Yasushi, Lead, In order to clarify the characteristics of the tree-shade preferred by grazing cattle, microclimate inside shade, kinds of shade tree, and size of shade were compared between the shade used and not used by cattle in 9 hilly paddocks during the summer season. The shade preferences of cattle were not affected by the kinds of shade tree when the shade was produced mainly by broadleaf trees. Cattle preferred the shade wherein the wind velocity was the highest, and this trend became especially strong during the afternoon. The shade size also affected the cattle's shade preferences. The shades less than 4 a were more preferred by cattle than the shades more than 10 a. The proportion of the wind velocity inside the shades of more than 10 a to the outside decreased with the increase of shade size. However, this decrease of wind velocity with the increase of shade size was not evident in the shades less than 10a. From these results, it was concluded that the shade preference of cattle mainly depended on the wind velocity inside the shade., Japanese Society of Grassland Science

  • Climatic Characteristics of the Resting Site for Grazing Cattle in a Hilly Pasture during Summer Season
    安江健; 近藤誠司; 大久保正彦; 朝日田康司, Lead, To clarify the relationships of air temperature and wind velocity to the resting site for grazing cattle in a hilly pasture, a raising-cattle herd consisting of 37-39 Herefords and Holsteins was rotatively grazed on three paddocks, and the resting sites for this herd were observed for 18 days during the summer season (July-Sep.). An observer recorded resting sites on a topographic map when more than 80% of the herd were resting around 14 : 00,22 : 00,2 : 00 and 10 : 00 h. Each paddock was classified into 5 or 6 blocks according to vegetation type and topographic elements. Wind velocity and air temperature were measured at a fixed point in each block, and the climatic characteristics of the resting sites were analyzed. The following results were obtained : 1) Wind velocity in each block at each measuring varied from 0.01 to 5.25 m/s, and the mean value through observations was 0.94 m/s. The air temperature in each block at each measuring varied from 12.9 to 31.5℃, and the mean value through observations was 21.4℃. 2) Differences in wind velocity among the blocks at each observation day ranged from 0.6-1.2 m/s in the paddock where the slope was only south or southeast-facing, which were smaller than in the other two paddocks where the aspect of the slope were various (P<0.05). Differences in air temperature among the blocks at each observation day ranged from 1-3℃ in all paddocks, and there was no significant difference in these values among the paddocks. 3) In the two paddocks where the elevation difference was about 60 m, the distribution of wind velocity and air temperature were more constant than that of the other paddock where the elevation difference was 40 m. 4) In the daytime (14 : 00 and 10 : 00 h), cattle frequently rested around the watering place (9 times in 34 observations except for the rain = 36%). In the residual observations, the daytime resting-site was frequently the site where the wind velocity was the highest among blocks (22 times in residual 25 observations = 88%, P<0.001). The climatic characteristics of nighttime resting-site were different between 22 : 00 and 2 : 00 h. In only one observation at night (22 : 00 h), cattle rested around the watering place. In the residual observations, resting-site (22 : 00 h) was frequently the site where the air temperature was the lowest among blocks (13 times in residual 15 observations = 85%, P<0.001). However, the resting site was not different between 22 : 00 and 2 : 00 h, and the nighttime resting-site (2 : 00h) had no particular climatic characteristics.   • Relationship between adjustment to door feeder System(]E81A1[) and social rank in heifers
    安江健; 小川貴代; 近藤誠司; 大久保正彦; 朝日田康司, Lead, To clarify the relationship between adjustment to door feeder system R and social rank in heifers, the behavior of a herd of 19 Hereford, 10 Holstein and 1 crossbreed (Hereford x Holstein) was observed during 12 days adjustment period. The heifers were classified into 3 groups according to the social rank (low, middle and high rank). At 4 door feeders in each group, the number of correct and wrong trials for entering the head to door feeder, door open and door not open, time to first correct trial were recorded during 2 hr. after the start of eating. The percentage of success to door open (door open / correct trial) was calculated from these data. Additionally, a focal heifer was selected from each group, and their behavior in front of door feeders was recorded with a time-lapse VTR through observation. The number of trials and displacements by other heifers were counted from the VTR. Following results were obtained : 1) The number of correct trials for entering the head to door feeder were constantly about 40 times through observation. The number of wrong trials decreased from about 120 times on Day 1 to about 20 times on Day 10 during adjustment period. 2) During adjustment period, the time to first correct trial decreased from about 60 min. on Day 1 to less than 5 min. on Day 5 for the low rank group, while it decreased from 70〜90 min, on Day 1 to less than 5 min. on Day 10 for the middle and high Tank groups. 3) For all groups, the percentage of success to door open did not change from Day 1 to Day 4 during adjustment period, but increased since Day 5. During adjustment period, it increased from about 40% on Day 4 to about 90% on Day 6 for the low and middle Tank groups, while it increased from about 10% on Day 4 to about 90% on Day 10 for the high rank group. 4) Among the 3 focal heifers, the number of trials and displacements by other heifers were most frequent in the low rank group, and were least in the high rank group.   • The relationships of group size, space allowances and paddock topography to social behavior in grazing cattle after grouping with introduced animals
    KONDO S.; YASUE T.; OGAWA K.; NAKATUJI H.; OKUBO M.; ASAHIDA Y., To determine the relationships difference of group sizes, space allowances and paddock topography to the social behavior in grazing cattle after grouping with introduced animals, behavioral observations were done on two grazing herds. The one group had 32 Hereford steers and heifers (12-15 mo. old) and had been grazed in a paddock of 0.27ha/animal with a small hill and small valleys. The other group was of 18 Hereford steers and heifers (9-12 mo. old) grazed in paddock of a 0.12ha/animal with a relative flat topographical aspect. Each 5 Holstein heifers (5-14 mo. old) were adding to each group and consecutive 24 hr observations were done on days 1,3,5 and 7 in both groups (groups 37 and 23). In group 37,introduced animals showed longer grazing time and sub-group formations at day 1,though these difference was disappeared after day 3. Agonistic encounter in group 37 was the most frequent in day 3,but observed low frequency in days 5 and 7,while, in group 23,the most frequent encounters was observed in day I but relative low in days 3,5 and 7. In both groups, social positions of introduced animals were low through observations. Non-physical agonistic encounters in group 37 showed high proportions in days 5 and 7,though they occupied low proportions through observations in group 23. Consequently, changes of behavior after grouping in group 23 was rapid but not so stable as group 37 which was grouped in larger group size and space allowance of the paddock with a complicated topography.Jpn.   • The effect of elevation and slope of hilly pasture on cattle distribution at grazing and resting during summer season
    安江健; 近藤誠司; 大久保正彦; 朝日田康司, Lead, 山地傾斜地における放牧地の地形が牛群の食草および休息時の牧区内分布に及ぼす影響を検討する目的で, 夏季放牧期間中(7月-9月)、5頭のホルスタイン種育成牛と32頭のヘレフォード種育成牛からなる牛群を、標高差が約60m(標高150-214m)で面積9.8haの牧区に放牧し、24時間の行動観察を計6回行った。牧区内各標高別区域および樹林地、谷、平坦部や斜面の方角に基づき分類した6つの小区画における食草および休息時間を、各行動の総時間に対する割合として算出し、面積比に基づく期待値との差をそれぞれX^2検定により検定した。この時、牛群の食草、休息行動の日内変化に基づき、1日を昼間(8-16 : 00)と夜間(20-4 : 00)および朝夕(4-8 : 00、16-20 : 00)の3つに分類し、解析を行った。得られた結果は次の通りである。1)標高ごとの各行動時間では、昼間の食草時間の63.5%、休息時間の79.4%が牧区内低標高区域(160-170m)で観察され、夜間の食草時間の67.9%、休息時間の75.9%が牧区内高標高区域(190-210m)で観察された。1日全体での食草時間は特定の標高別区域に偏ることはなかった。2)小区画ごとの各行動時間では、昼間の休息時間は南向き斜面(38.8%)と平坦部(51.0%)に有意(P<0.01)に偏った。昼間の食草時間の割合は南向き斜面、東向き斜面および平坦部で47.9、21.3、22.9%であり、南向き斜面の47.9%は期待値よりも有意(P<0.01)に高かった。1日全体での食草時間は、いずれの時間帯にも食草行動が行われなかった樹林地を除き、特定の小区画に偏ることはなかった。3)各小区画における総食草時間と積算放牧地草現存量から、全観察を通しての放牧地草現存量1kgDM当たりの食草時間を小区画ごとに算出した結果、現存量1kgDM当たりの食草時間は平坦部が他の小区画よりもやや低い傾向にあったが、期待値と比べて有意な偏りではなかった。日本家畜管理研究会誌、29(2) : 61-68.1993.1993年6月24日受理, Japanese Soceity of Livestock Management
