- Reconstruction of Type II Supergravities via O(d) × O(d) Duality Invariants

In this paper we embed Schwarzschild black hole into superstring theory or M-theory, which we call a smeared black hole, and resolve quantum corrections to it. Furthermore we boost the smeared black hole along the 11th direction and construct a smeared quantum black 0-brane in 10 dimensions. Quantum aspects of the thermodynamic for these black objects are investigated in detail. We also discuss radiations of a string and a D0-brane from the smeared quantum black 0-brane., SPRINGER
JHEP, 2017年01月17日, [査読有り] - Numerical tests of the gauge/gravity duality conjecture for D0-branes at finite temperature and finite N
Masanori Hanada; Yoshifumi Hyakutake; Goro Ishiki; Jun Nishimura, According to the gauge/gravity duality conjecture, the thermodynamics of gauge theory describing D-branes corresponds to that of black branes in superstring theory. We test this conjecture directly in the case of D0-branes by applying Monte Carlo methods to the corresponding gauge theory, which takes the form of the Banks-Fischler-Shenker-Susskind (BFSS) matrix quantum mechanics. In particular, we take the continuum limit by extrapolating the UV cutoff to infinity. First we perform simulations at large N so that string loop corrections can be neglected on the gravity side. Our results for the internal energy exhibit the temperature dependence consistent with the prediction including the a' corrections. Next we perform simulations at small N but at lower temperature so that the a' corrections can be neglected on the gravity side. Our results are consistent with the prediction including the leading string loop correction, which suggests that the conjecture holds even at finite N., AMER PHYSICAL SOC

Masanori Hanada; Yoshifumi Hyakutake; Goro Ishiki; Jun Nishimura, 筆頭著者, Black holes have been predicted to radiate particles and eventually evaporate, which has led to the information loss paradox and implies that the fundamental laws of quantum mechanics may be violated. Superstring theory, a consistent theory of quantum gravity, provides a possible solution to the paradox if evaporating black holes can actually be described in terms of standard quantum mechanical systems, as conjectured from the theory. Here, we test this conjecture by calculating the mass of a black hole in the corresponding quantum mechanical system numerically. Our results agree well with the prediction from gravity theory, including the leading quantum gravity correction. Our ability to simulate black holes offers the potential to further explore the yet mysterious nature of quantum gravity through well-established quantum mechanics., AMER ASSOC ADVANCEMENT SCIENCE
Science, 2014年05月, [査読有り] - Quantum near-horizon geometry of a black 0-brane
Yoshifumi Hyakutake, We investigate a bunch of D0-branes to reveal their quantum nature from the gravity side. In the classical limit, it is well described by a non-extremal black 0-brane in type IIA supergravity. The solution is uplifted to the eleven dimensions and expressed by a non-extremal M-wave solution. After reviewing the effective action for the M-theory, we explicitly solve the equations of motion for the near-horizon geometry of theM-wave. As a result, we derive a unique solution that includes the effect of the quantum gravity. The thermodynamic properties of the quantum near-horizon geometry of the black 0-brane are also studied by using Wald's entropy formula. Combining our result with that of the Monte Carlo simulation of the dual thermal gauge theory, we find strong evidence for the gauge/gravity duality in the D0-brane system at the level of quantum gravity. © The Author(s) 2014. Yoshifumi Hyakutake, We investigate three dimensional anti-de sitter (AdS(3))/CFT2 correspondence in three-dimensional supergravity. We construct a current for the general coordinate invariance and that for local supersymmetry via the covariant approach. The Hamiltonian and supercharge are well defined in terms of vielbein and spin connection. After discussing the asymptotic supersymmetry group at the boundary of AdS(3) geometry, we show that there exists a direct product of Virasoro algebras at the boundary. We apply the canonical approach to this higher derivative case and employ the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism to analyze the flow equations of two-dimensional field theory. Especially we obtain flow equations of Weyl and gravitational anomalies, and derive c-functions for left and right moving modes. Both of them are monotonically non-increasing along the flow, and the difference between them is determined by the coefficient of the gravitational Chern-Simons term. This is completely consistent with the Zamolodchikov's c-theorem for parity-violating two-dimensional quantum field theories. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Based on the fact that higher derivative corrections to the type IIA supergravity action start at the order of alpha('3), we derive the internal energy in expansion around infinite 't Hooft coupling up to the subleading term with one unknown coefficient. The power of the subleading term is shown to be nicely reproduced by the Monte Carlo data obtained nonperturbatively on the gauge theory side at finite but large effective (dimensionless) 't Hooft coupling constant. This suggests, in particular, that the open strings attached to the D0-branes provide the microscopic origin of the black hole thermodynamics of the dual geometry including alpha(') corrections. The coefficient of the subleading term extracted from the fit to the Monte Carlo data provides a prediction for the gravity side., AMER PHYSICAL SOC

This is one of the extended solutions of the BTZ black hole and has in fact AdS(3) geometries both at the spatial infinity and at the event horizon. An explicit derivation of Virasoro algebras for CFT2 at the two boundaries is shown to be possible h la Brown and Henneaux's calculation. If we regard the scalar field as a running coupling in the dual two dimensional field theory, and its flow in the bulk as the "holographic" renormalization group flow, our black hole should interpolate the two CFT2 living at the infinity and at the horizon. Following the Hamilton-Jacobi analysis by de Boer, Verlinde and Verlinde, we calculate the central charges c(UV) and C-IR for the CFT2 on the infinity and the horizon, respectively. We also confirm that the inequality C-IR < C-UV is satisfied, which is consistent with the Zamolodchikov's c-theorem., SPRINGER

Kyosuke Hotta; Yoshifumi Hyakutake; Takahiro Kubota; Hiroaki Tanida, 筆頭著者, We analyze the symmetry realized asymptotically on the two dimensional boundary of AdS(3) geometry in topologically massive gravity, which consists of the gravitational Chern-Simons term as well as the usual Einstein-Hilbert and negative cosmological constant terms. Our analysis is based on the conventional canonical method and proceeds along the line completely parallel to the original Brown and Henneaux's. In spite of the presence of the gravitational Chern-Simons term, it is confirmed by the canonical method that the boundary theory actually has the conformal symmetry satisfying the left and right moving Virasoro algebras. The central charges of the Virasoro algebras are computed explicitly and are shown to be left-right asymmetric due to the gravitational Chern-Simons term. It is also argued that the Cardy's formula for the BTZ black hole entropy capturing all higher derivative corrections agrees with the extended version of the Wald's entropy formula. The M5-brane system is illustrated as an application of the present calculation., SPRINGER

Ogushi, 筆頭著者, In this paper we derive higher derivative corrections to the eleven dimensional supergravity by applying the Noether method with respect to the N = 1 local supersymmetry. An ansatz for the higher derivative effective action, which includes quartic terms of the Riemann tensor, is parametrized by 132 parameters. Then we show that by the requirement of the local supersymmetry, the higher derivative effective action is essentially described by two parameters. The bosonic parts of these two superinvariants completely match with the known results obtained by the perturbative calculations in the type IIA superstring theory.
Since the calculations are long and systematic, we build the computer programming to check the cancellation of the variations under the local supersymmetry. This is an extended version of our previous paper [1]., SPRINGER

In both cases the spherical D2 brane with nonzero radius becomes classical solution of the D2-brane action. We also investigate the gravitational Myers effect in the background of D6 branes. The supertube is a tubular D-2-brane which carries D0-brane charge No, fundamental string charge N-1 and angular momentum J. Yoshifumi Hyakutake, In this paper, we review a system of D-brane and anti-D-brane in type II superstring theories. [A. Sen, hep-th/9904207 and references there in; Y. Hyakutake, Master-Th., Doctor-Th. (in Japanese)] This system is unstable and tachyonic modes, which have negative mass squared, appear from open strings between D-brane and anti-D-brane. The effective field theory on the world-volume is described by U(1)xU(I) gauge theory with a complex tachyon field. Since the mass squared of the tachyon field is negative, a tachyon potential would be like a wine bottle. In order to make the system stable, the tachyon rolls down the potential and gets some vacuum expectation value. This is called the tachyon condensation mechanism. During this mechanism, Dp-brane and anti-Dp-brane annihilate completely, if we admit Sen's conjecture. These M-ribbons are generalized so as to be consistent with the SL(2, Z) modular transformation on T2. In terms of the type IIB theory, the generalized M-ribbons are interpreted as an SL(2, Z) duality family of super D-helix. It is also shown that the BPS M-ribbons must be straight in one direction. Yoshifumi Hyakutake, Classical configurations of a M2-brane, a D2-brane and D0-branes are investigated in the background of an infinite array of M5-branes or NS5-branes. On the M2-brane, we discuss three kinds of configurations, such as a sphere, a cylinder and a torus-like one. These are stabilized by virtue of the background fluxes of M5-branes. The torus-like M2-brane configuration has winding and momentum numbers of 11th direction, and in terms of the type-IIA superstring theory, this corresponds to a torus-like D2-brane with electric and magnetic fluxes on it. We also reproduce the same configuration from a non-abelian Born-Infeld action for D0-branes. It will be a construction of closed strings from D0-branes. An electric flux quantization condition on the D2-brane is also discussed in terms of D0-branes., SPRINGER

Sugimoto, There is a longstanding puzzle concerned with the existence of (Op) over tilde (-)-planes with p greater than or equal to 6, which are 0orientifold p-planes of negative charge with stuck Dp-branes. We study the consistency of configurations with various orientifold planes and propose a resolution to this puzzle. It is argued that (O6) over tilde (-)-planes are possible in massive IIA theory with odd cosmological constant, while (O7) over tilde (-)-planes and (O8) over tilde (-)-planes are not allowed.
