- Anxiety in Online and Face-to-Face English Classes Amongst Japanese University Students During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic
Ronald Schmidt-Fajlik, 筆頭著者, This study explored English language learning anxiety among 105 Japanese university students during the transition from in-person to online education caused by the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Surveys conducted between 2020 and 2023 revealed no significant differences in anxiety levels between online and traditional classrooms, with t-tests showing similar results across gender and academic year. Although slight increases in anxiety were observed for traditional classes, female students, and third-year undergraduates, these differences were not statistically significant. The findings suggest that the shift to online learning did not significantly impact anxiety levels, highlighting the need for further research into factors influencing foreign language anxiety in various learning contexts., AsiaCALL Online Journal

Ronald Schmidt-Fajlik, The article investigates the degree of anxiety experienced by Ibaraki University students when reading in English, particularly during extensive reading. A questionnaire was administered to fiftythree students regarding the level of anxiety they experienced while reading. Results were analyzed and explained using charts.
