Message from Researchers
(Message from Researchers)
My research specializes in family sociology, demography, and gender studies, with a particular focus on fertility decline, family change, and transformations in gender relations in East Asia under compressed modernity from a comparative perspective. In recent years, my work has examined the transition to adulthood, attitudes toward marriage and childbearing, educational competition, and the difficulties of family formation among younger generations in Japan, South Korea, China, and Singapore. Through comparative sociological approaches, I explore the structural and cultural factors underlying ultra-low fertility in East Asian global cities. Since 2025, I have been conducting international collaborative research through visiting research appointments at the National University of Singapore and Peking University.
