Specializes in family sociology, gender studies, and demography. Earned master's and doctoral degrees from Seoul National University, South Korea. Interested in the interplay between demographic dynamics and social change, particularly issues stemming from population changes. Conducts international comparative studies on East Asia’s low fertility from the perspectives of "compressed modernity" and gender, and actively engages in comparative research both within East Asia and between East Asia and Western societies. Scheduled to undertake research at the University of Oxford from late 2025.
